Albany Five:
NDE Stands In Solidarity With You.

Five elderly women were arrested for peace in Albany, New York on August 26th, 2015. The women held a sit-in at the office of Senator Chuck Schumer in order to try to convince him to change his position on the latest nuclear deal between the USA & Iran. Using tactics popular in the contemporary peace movement (such as taking direct action for peace), these women ranged in age from their 60's to 80's, and one woman was 90. NDE commends these elders for their courage.

Sue Clark, age 89, was partially inspired in this direct action because of former NDE staffer Sister Megan Rice. Sister Megan took direct action for peace most famously in the Transform Now Plowshares (TNP). Sue Clark was at the Saint Kateri Peace Conference in Albany in August 2015, and heard Sister Megan Rice speak there.

More information on Sue's arrest and this issue is on the TimesUnion Blog.

The photo below is of Sue Clark and was taken by Marcia Hopple.
