Nevada Desert Experience
honors the commitment to struggle for justice and sovereignty
of the indigenous peoples of this land. Nuclear weapons
testing has been conducted worldwide on lands taken from
indigenous people. The "Nevada-Semipalatinsk"
movement in the former Soviet Union was inspired by NDE,
APT, Greenpeace and the Western Shoshone activism in Newe
Sogobia on behalf of the peace in the world and an end
to nuclear weapons testing. In the case of the Nevada
Test Site, the land legally belongs to the Western Shoshone
Nation. This land is now the most bombed place on earth.
The next Western Shoshone Walk-Run
around the NTS is coming just prior to Mothers' Day.
