Nagasaki & Hiroshima Commemoration

August 9th @ the NTS road to Mercury

We gathered near the gates of the Nevada Nuclear Test Site on August 9th, the 62nd anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Nagasaki for an end to nuclear weapons development and other war preparations. We honored the memory of Corbin Harney, beloved Shoshone spiritual leader who passed over to the other side on July 10th. We vigilled by the road to greet the NTS workers and concluded with an optional nonviolent action, wherein a few people crossed the line as allowed by the treaty with Western Shoshone.

Corbin Harney has been a leader of the movement to close the Test Site for decades, a crucial spokesperson for the land and the Native way of life, and a beloved friend to many.
