NEWS RELEASE: 18 APRIL 2014
WEDDING GOES antiNUCLEAR

Contact: Marcus Page @ 505.379.6942

On Friday, the 18th of April, following a ritual commemorating war victims and nuclear victims, a couple of Council Members of Nevada Desert Experience (NDE) will be bound in the vows of holy matrimony as they get arrested at the Nevada National Security Site. Ming and River Victor will be wedded at a ceremony in which Western Shoshone Chief Johnnie Bobb will officiate. The wedding is at about 10:10 AM.

In light of contemporary acts of violence conducted by Creech Air Force Base drone pilots, ongoing burial of nuclear waste at the NNSS, and the waste of tax dollars at the NNSS on pro-nuclear weapons work (in the form of subcritical nuclear detonations), the couple getting married Friday the 18th are taking this step into marriage as a sign of personal power to bless the enemies of the USA, rather than curse them. Ming and River Victor are committed to nuclear weapons abolition, and the end of drone warfare, and a nuclear-free future. They recognize that the cards are stacked against such lofty goals of peace, environmental justice, and social justice, yet they will make vows to each other showing the world that individuals across the USA do indeed have the power to choose truth, trust, life, love and hope as the antedote to the horrors of nuclearism and militarism and drone terrorism. The nuclear abolitionists on the Sacred Peace Walk are united in opposition to the US propaganda that causes ordinary civilians to choose falsehood, fear, hate, and the desperation of violence instead of choosinng truth, trust, life, love, and hope. The positive choices represented in today's ceremonies (matrimony and others--see the schedule) at the NNSS are choices to which the Peace Walkers aspire.

The couple has been arrested before at the NNSS, and will be accompanied by a dozen other arrestees, who have been on a Sacred Peace Walk from Las Vegas to the NNSS. Some of the wedding party was arrested on Wednesday at Creech as part of NDE's Sacred Peace Walk. The Walk includes participants from as far away as the Netherlands, and is 40-people strong this year. The happy couple to become married today met for three years ago on the Sacred Peace Walk.

Nevada Desert Experience (NDE) Serves Creech AFB with War Crimes Indictment

PHOTO BY JOHN AMIDON: "Closing the gate on war crimes at Creech AFB."
Nine anti-killer drone (RPA/UAV) activists arrested from LTR are Vera Anderson-Orlewicz, Marcus Page, Robert Majors, Margaret McChesney, Brian Terrell, Seamus Knight, Barry Binks, Dan Shay and Darcy Leo Ike in front.

On Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at about 8:10 AM, nine peaceful prayer activists were arrested at Creech AFB when attempting to serve a War Crimes Indictment to Creech AFB Commander Col. Jim Cluff. The Indictment can be viewed online. The nine civilians are part of the NDE's nineteenth annual Sacred Peace Walk which will end at the Nevada National Security Site on Friday, April 18, 2014.

In light of last week's revelations about the "secretive cluster of units with the wing call the 732nd Operations Group", where the CIA is using Creech Air Force Pilots to carry out drone strikes in Pakistan, NDE's War Indictment could not be delivered at a more timely moment. Clearly the illegality of the largest targeted drone killing program can no longer be denied or covered up.

NDE volunteer John Amidon said, "The unconscionable killing of so many innocent people by drone strikes will forever be a stain on the USAF."

"We also are here to call upon the airmen and airwomen to consider the spiritual impact of the horrifying physical violence conducted by Creech AFB," said NDE Council member Marcus Page-Collonge.

Brandon Bryant, a former US Predator operator, in the newly released motion picture, DRONE, said, "There is a lie hidden within that truth. And the lie is that it's always been the air force that has flown those missions. The CIA might be the customer but the air force has always flown it. A CIA label is just an excuse to not have to give up any information. That is all it has ever been." (See reference below.)

7 Arrested as Code Pink Affirms Life Defying Air Force

Nevada Desert Experience: 702-646-4814

This morning, 7 Code Pink courageous women went to Creech Air Force Base (Indian Springs, Nevada) to take a stand for life and environmental justice. Morally disgusted by the callous disregard and the murder of over 200 children via attacks from Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), also known popularly as drones or UAVs, the women insisted that these illegal and deadly attacks stop. Wearing miniature Pink Drones with the names of victims the women attempted to walk onto the base to bring their message in person to the Base Commander. Their consciences demanded no less. The women arrested were among a group of 12 other peace activists opposing drone warfare and 12 patriotic civilian supporters of drone killings. Only the anti-RPA activists were arrested in the course of their duties.

One of the Code Pink Women For Peace said, "When drone victims can be called 'bug splat' and are so trivialized, we know the Air Force and other US drone programs are completely out of control. The killings must be stopped."

On Sunday, April 13, 2014 Nevada Desert Experience (NDE) will commence their 19 annual peace walk beginning at the National Atomic Testing Museum at 9 AM and will proudly welcome the women of Code Pink as walkers and heroes. On Wednesday, April 16, 2014 the Peace Walk will vigil at Creech at 7 AM with more Civil Resistance and arrests probable. The Sacred Peace Walk ends at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) on Good Friday to protest nuclearism and the ongoing toxification of Western Shoshone lands.
